• AI in Indian Healthcare

The Indian healthcare sector is rapidly embracing artificial intelligence, with adoption rates now surpassing FMCG and manufacturing.

In hospitals, AI is being used for diagnostics (image analysis, CT/X-ray interpretation), predictive analytics (anticipating disease outbreaks, patient deterioration), and administrative automation (electronic health records, documentation) to free up physician time.

However, there are challenges. Many AI initiatives are still just proof-of-concepts, not scaled systems. Issues of bias, transparency, and data privacy remain serious concerns. For example, AI tools trained on unrepresentative datasets may perform poorly on certain demographic groups.

As doctors, we should welcome AI’s potential — but push for robust validation, transparency in algorithm design, and local relevance. Let’s ensure AI augments rather than replaces clinical judgment.

Have you used or seen any AI diagnostic tool in your hospital or clinic? What was your experience?
